International Training in Implant Dentistry in Germany
The German Association of Oral Implantology (DGI) is offering a curriculum in implant dentistry in collaboration with the Heinrich-Hammer Postgraduate Dental Education Institute of Schleswig Holstein (HHI) and the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery of the Christian-Albrecht University (CAU).
Training for sucess. Up to now more than 4600 dentists in Europe have been educated by the postgraduate training program of the DGI. The course will be held in English in Kiel at the Heinrich-Hammer Postgraduate Education Institute and at the Dept. of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at the University Hospital of Schleswig-Holstein. The modules will be presented by a faculty of internationally acknowledged experts from clinics and private offices, who will familiarize the colleagues with ways of integrating implant dentistry into their own offices. The Curriculum is independent of commercial interests. However, it is intended to provide a platform to present the current implant systems of the most important implant manufacturers.
Weekend modules. The Curriculum is scheduled for approximately one year and comprises 9 two-day week-end modules with a total of roughly 150 hours of lectures and hands-on work.
Learning in small groups. Groups of 20 students are offered a mix of theory and practice, live surgery or video demonstrations and hands-on training during each of the weekend modules held on Fridays and Saturdays. The program is completed by a two days visiting program in the dental offices or clinics of the faculty members and a supervised implant operation performed by the participant.
